What is the difference between a filling and a crown?
A filling repairs a limited defect, for example after decay or a small fracture, when enough healthy tooth tissue remains.
A crown covers all or most of a tooth and may be considered when little tooth tissue remains. A crown is not always necessary; a filling is often sufficient. We assess this after an examination.
When can restoration be useful?
Restoration may be useful for decay, a broken tooth, an old filling that no longer functions well or sensitivity. If a more extensive plan is needed, we explain it beforehand.
